Yes they do. Excessive and large animations slow your site down, however, you really need to over do it. Web animations can be optimised and implemented correctly to reduce the impact they have on website speed.
Native CSS animations will not affect the speed but larger JS ones can. The larger hero and background animations that we make are JSONs or GLB's, a file format optimised for the web. JSONs are just a type of file format (like JPG and PNG) that are ideal for the web as they're mathematical data not pixels.
Yes they can cause discomfort for people with cognitive and sight conditions. It's important to keep vulnerable people in mind when designing. No flashing animations and giving the user the ability to control and pause the animation really helps.
Yes they can. Keeping file sizes small and optimising the email so it's still understandable if the GIF doesn't load reduces the chances of them being sent to spam. It is highly unlikely that a GIF alone will get an email sent to spam, it is more the text. Email spam filters look at the text:image and text:code ratio. The ratio should always favour the text so keeping GIF's to one per email is fine.
Any website can have animations. If your website is designed using a web development software; like Wix, Wordpress and SquareSpace, they need to support custom code.
Not all email providers support animation but all the large ones; Gmail, web-based Outlook and Apple Mail do.
Yes. You will have intellectual property over the animation we made for you meaning its legally yours. We will give you multiple file formats (JSON, GIF and mp4) that you can use in any of your campaigns. If you need help adding the animation to any campaigns not agreed upon in the proposal we can still help you implement it.
From the Final project sign off, none, however, you will be involved in the creative process. There are multiple presentations throughout our creative workflow, as early as initial conceptualisation, where you can provide feedback and we make changes accordingly. You won't be in a position where the final project sign off is near and the animation is not what you expected. It will be much earlier in the creative process when changes and revisions are made.
It all depends on the project. A simple animated icon may take as little as three days whereas a full website may take a month. Details will be provided in the proposal alongside your quote.
